Hi Divya,

Thanks for all those like minded who supported my cause.

I have a suggestion to make here. We at Satyam also provide notebooks etc.
for the children from Govt. Schools. For this the contributions come from
our associates themselves. We make a small kit of 6 to 8 notebooks, pen,
pencil, Geometry Box as a set in the beginning of the year for children
above 6th class. For primary, 4 slates and necessary as kit, and for 2 to 5
we make a kit of 5 notebooks with pencil, pen etc. Each set costs Rs.40/- to
Rs.100/- and we offer these as coupons for sale accross our locations. Last
year we raised about Rs.3.5 lakhs with just a 3 day drive in Hyderabad.

This year our schools reopened late. But in Chennai we already raised Rs.1.5
lakhs accross 5000 strength. Even the Office Boys and substaff paid last time
for the children's cause. It doesn't cost an individual not more than a
Cigarette packet a day. But the children can happily come to school for 6
months. After December, we gave another 5 notebooks for higher classes, which
takes care of the whole year education. Every time some one alone has to bear
this burden is too much even though he/she is inclined to help the children.
The maximum contributions come from youngsters who are just into their jobs, on
the bench, and especially from northern and eastern
part of India as they understand what it's being educated, an employed and
earning.

Let's collect about Rs.1000/- per head on First of the month July and keep
it as a fund. I think Prasanthi can be caretaker for this amount. With less
burden on her and this funds issue, we can contribute more time and effort
for other serious issues.

Regarding help for intelligent and hard working children ffrom low profile
family backgrounds, we can try with BREAD, GMR and other foundations in
Hyderabad, PRERANA in Bangalore(funded by Infosys 50%), and many more others
in different parts of the globe. We can also maintain a Group Fund for this
also besides these organizations. I am paying about Rs.30000/- an year as
tax and this keeps growing as my salary grows. People are more worried about
Tax deduction and savings. It's not very impossible for most ofus spare
about Rs. 5000/- per year for our base activities. How to manage these big
amounts?? That's a big question mark but I feel this is a small task infront
the problem we are facing, trying for money every now and then.

Regards,
Like Minded.......
