Just to add for clarity, WordPress is a software, not a hosting service. Even
if the final decision is to go with free hosting provided by Rajasekhar garu,
WordPress software can be used if his servers support PHP and MySQL. Joomla or
Drupal are also good Content Management System softwares. This way, we can make
use of many features without spending much time.

KS Rao Garu,

That is exactly what I meant in my first paragraph. Anyway, finally it is your
group's choice. I was just giving options and my suggestions. I think I am
responding too much, which is not good I guess. I apologize.

I am not sure of Wordpress or any other service. But I don't think
all our requests will be taken care by any paid service providers also.
Once it's a paid service, there are too many clients linked up for them.
As part of SIFY earlier or using Dishnet, I know what service we used to
provide.
The server is in Chennai or in Us and you access thru some connectivity.
Everything depends on the reliability of service provider.

Atleast this help from Mr.Allipuram will be better as he understands what we
are upto and he is also a part and parcel of our game. Only thing is instead of
toubling him randomly, we can plan for a service
schedule once a fortnight or so. If required we can spend a few extra hours
sitting with him
getting our work done timely. Instead of paying some other service provider let
us keep
aside some money for service and pay it to our host for providing any extra
service.

Whatever extra money he gets from our service, he may channel back into TMAD /
BOSF helpline.

KSRao

Friends,

I have one suggestion regarding this. This is only my personal opinion. If free
hosting service is taken from Raj or telugupeople or anyone else, you will
always be in 'hesitant' situtation to go back to hosting provider with all your
requests, and at some point you may think 'are we troubling our hosting
provider with too-many requests' etc..! I see that this is what is happening
currently as well. Instead, wherever you host the website, it is better to be a
paid hosting service,  so that you can demand the service when needed, and you
do not feel uncomfortable putting any no. of requests. But since you have
options for free hosting, you can put it this way. You can pay for the service
monthly, and then the amount paid to the hosting provider can be donated back to
TMAD for any cause. That way - both parties get satisfaction and can avoid
uneasy feeling. I hope, I have putforth my point correctly without hurting
anyone. I apologize if not.

Main thing with hosting is - you should be in a position to update your website
anytime without waiting for someone long time, you should be able to get
support to resolve issues (at the earliest, not too long), provision for
backups etc. Wherever you host it, I would suggest using the WordPress software.

I just want to list few advantages with WordPress software:

1. Wordpress is a publishing system built on PHP and MySQL and licensed under
the GPL
2. It is very easy to use
3. Full user registration module is inbuilt into it. All members can register
on the website, submit comments  on any posts, we can create pages and give
permission only to members etc etc
4. Spam protection is available
5. You can password protect posts
6. Individual members in the group can run their independent blogs on this
group website. Your domain name is www.tomakeadifferen ce.net. Now, Prssanthi
can create her own blog on this website with her own theme and look, and run
her blog as http://prasanthi. tomakeadifferenc e.net. This is all inbuilt into
wordpress, and it is easy.
7. Easy installation and upgrades
8. There are so many plugins available for each functionality enhancement.
Check on www.wordpress. org
9. You can have a 'Contributor Team', the members of which are allowed post
updates on the website, and at the same time, you can form an 'Admin Team', the
members of which can review each update and approve it. This enables your team
to have multiple authors, but can have a central approval point.

BlueHost Imp Features:
1. Unlimited Emails and browser-based email access
2. Unlimited Domains hosting in one package
3. Unlimited Disk storage
4. Free domainname. No charges for renewal each year.
5. MySQL/PostGreSQL Databases
6. FTP Access (with anonymous access too)
7. Linux OS
8. PHP/Javascript/ Perl/Ruby etc
9. 24x7 Network monitoring and Support

Best Regards,
Pradeep

Hi,

Are we planning to make the website more dynamic, going forward? like maintain
databases/OCMS. If yes, then the maintainance would be high and might
require professional hosting sites. If its just static content as we have now
then it doesnt matter where we go. Only thing is issue resolution. We should be
able to deal with any issues related to the site within a day or two. Which
normally is not a problem.

If Raj, can support such requests great, else we can go for a paid service.

Regards
Chaitanya

Friends,

Yesterday is the deadline to decide about the host and no one
responded.

We will not keep on asking for suggestions. Once the deadline is
crossed, we are not going to entertain any comments/further
discussion on the topic. The whole group should accept the decisions
taken.

We have two options:
1. If we want free hosting, we will request Raj to provide the same.
He already expressed his acceptance.
2. If we want to go for paid hosting, we will request Pradeep to take
this task and get us hosted at Bluehost.

All of you should respond by tonight or tomorrow morning 11 am IST.

Thank you.

with regards,
Prasanthi.
