 Dear All,

Endogenous Tourism Project, Pochampally, Livelihoods and Tourism
Development Committee of Pochampally and Akshara Network warmly
welcomes you all to be part of the first ever Pochampally Mela this
month between 27th and 29th.

Come and join us and participate in the Mela. Enjoy the experience of
rural craft, culture and life.

The Pochampally Mela - 27th through 29th September

Join us at the first ever Pochampally Mela event from September 27th
through 29th for an amazing time. The Ikat weaving village that gave
Vinobha's Bhoodan Movement a push into being, is hosting a tourist
Mela for 3 grand days.

During this time join us and visit Pochampally for a colorful pallet
of experiences including: interaction with master Ikat weavers, the
brand new modern tourism center, live artisan demonstrations to be
introduced to the intricate workings of Ikat and double Ikat
weavings, enthralling temples, serene Vinobha Mandir, boating in the
beautiful tank, the unique Dappulu folk dance, the special Oggu katha
form of storytelling and many more. Shopping for Ikat products
including famous Pochampally Sarees is an all-time fun.

Pochampally is close to Hyderabad yet a world away. So
transportation there is easy but Pochampally provides a unique
experience when you arrive. Come and plan a home stay with us for a
few days so you can enjoy the local dishes and culture in leisure.
Mouth watering local cuisines include a plethora of cucumber-based
curries (veg & non-veg), Jowar roti, polelu (stuffed sweet chapathi)
and rice, followed by the sweet dish taadkala pasham. The smorgasbord
of Pochamapally is not complete without Neera – fresh palm sap.

The Indian Rural Tourism Initiative has worked for the past year with
the villagers of Pochampally to make this a showcase of tourism of
which only a few places in rural India share in this honor. Your
visit will help the local livelihoods of Pochampally and you will
take back with you the satisfaction of being one in this effort.
In addition to hospitality from the entire village, visit the
information centre for suggested itineraries and for a local,
certified guide to accompany you!
