I wish you all the women in TMAD group and in the world a very
happy *Women's day...*
One the eve of International Women's Day, I had an opportunity to
participate in VOCSET Summit held on 8th Mrach at Eluru, West Godhavari
District along with some like minded NGOs and Sex workers from six
districts. I would like to bring the issues they raised in the meeting...
I feel many of you are puzzling with the terminologies "Victims",
"Commercial Sexual Exploitation" "Trafficking", if any body aware about it
thats well and good. In detail, the VOCSET is a forum of commercial Sex
workers, It started in the year 2005 on March 8th inorder to safeguard the
second generation of the sex workers means children of sex workers not to
enter into this flesh trade.
* VOCSET* forum named as *VIMUKTHI* by the members. They
consider the sex workers as victims of sexual exploitation for many
reasons. A group discussions had with the Victim women, they shared their
painful experiences of how they became sex workers from a house wives...
Drunken husbands, in-laws tortures, Poverty, Family burdens, cheated & sold
out by so called Lovers & husbands, and some are with their own acceptance
and lot more stunning reasons which are not digestable. They also shared
the problems arising from Brokers, Pimps, how they are being cheated by the
client's and Police. Their request is only one thing "Knowingly or
unknowingly we spoiled our lives, we just urging the society to protect our
children." The children of these victims are facing harrible situations
where ever they go to public places, schools, colleges and they are dropping
their studies because of these reasons.
Dear friends, i submit a request to all of you, kindly look at
their lives if possible help them and try to protect their children who are
the next generation to this society ....
