Congratulations to everyone who made the Anniversary Meet successful. I totally agree with Bhargav and Kasyap. We need to give publicity.
People don't need to know who we are, but everyone need to know what/why we are doing. I am sure it will bring more volunteers. A perfect example is me. I found TMAD in Orkut and googled a bit. Very much impressed with Prasanthi work (only mails), joined the group. But, still I wonder how I trusted this group. I had lot of questions as I know NONE in this group, yet I made a decision to make my move. It won't be same for others who are willing to do their part. More I think more I want to write.....whatever it is we need to give publicity (may be we can call it marketing) Personally I think we also need to plan for next year projects. What projects we will be doing and how much money we need to raise and how many volunteers we need. I believe Project after SSC and Mehdipatnam School projects are not in our plan. Yet we raised almost 150,000 rupees in just 2 months time. If everyone agrees we should utilize these projects to reach out to the people. Area of interest: I think everyone should respond :) telling what is their area of interest. So that it will be easy for others to get connected. For my part, I am taking up Educational Research ...mainly concentrating on the current govt. schemes in the primary education. Please join me in this research if this is your area of interest. I am sure Prasanthi will be the first person reading/responding to this mail. let's change this. Let's share the work and make another difference. It was a very great evening being with TMAD members. I am always glad to be a TMAD member and always used to tell my friends in other organisations about TMAD and how well organized and planned is it. After moving to hyd from bangalore, I was a bit hesitant to take volunteership as I was not sure whether after taking up the responsibility I can make that out or not as I was occupied with my personal issues. And I was not even sure how others will feel once I fail to do the same. And moreover I didn't want to interfere in the well going activities coming as a person from no where. But after yesterday's meet I came to know I was wrong. But these days, I can see that many active people became busy. As Prasanthi said, lets hope everything will become active as it was before. I'l try my best to be so. Coming to the Annual meet, it was a very great evening. Prasanthi has almost posted about everythign we discussed over there. Except the last thing, what we felt about her. Undoubtedly she is a person with unlimited energy. She has got two jobs. One of is her office and the other is TMAD. I personally feel that she is the brain and backbone of TMAD. Divya said that without Prasanthi TMAD wouldn't be survived. Ratan Ji did second that. Over all we enjoyed a lot. Some left early and remaining of us had dinner. I thank Divya for such a nice treat. Looking forward for such treats.:D. Thanks and regards, Vineel. Forgot to add one important point: Ravi Shankar suggested us to register as voters and if possible to encourage others to register. He is very much inspired by Loksatta's ideals and the able leadership of JP. He requested to vote for Loksatta if we are convinced by its ideals. Coming to giving money for Mehdipatnam school, we followed a strategy. If govt. does not come forward to put 100% money for whatever reason, if we compel it to pay 80% by contributing the other 20%, it serves the purpose because the children gets class rooms and also a quality class room study and learning. The impact of it would be more. There is always a trade off. How much the govt. has to be spent on each school and what percentage for the basic requirements? We need to know these details and there can be umpteen number of excuses for the officials for not doing things or sanctioning goodies to schools. We have to take a decision on which approach would be great given the constraints and limitations. If we remember we even mentioned that we are not going to spend for infrastructure as Govt. has to spend. We followed the same. May be this is the first step and as we gain experience, may be we can get to know all the possible schemes and options and try to let the govt. spend 100% of the money. Coming to the observation of doing charity only instead of something more meaningful and of impact, we conducted awareness sessions on RTI Act. We are trying to do our bit. We also need volunteers who buy in an idea so that they can take it forward with zeal. We thought that it would be great if some of us can spare some time to visit govt. sites, read information on different schemes and guide us so that we can maintain a database and will be in a better position to take things in the right direction with a correct approach.
