Friends, In my excitement, I didn't share what Anil told me.
1. We need volunteers who are between 21 to 25 years of age - Freshers in job or students. They have more time and they can do with much vigor. As our members are getting married and busy with personal lives, we need fresh blood who can spare time. 2. We definitely need publicity. With publicity people get to know us and there by getting our works done would be relatively easy. Second benefit is that there are chances of getting more funds and there by we can reach more people. There are people who are running the show by mere publicity and they are able to call the shots without doing anything. Why not we project ourselves?!? 3. If we are serious about service and continue to work, we need to think in a corporate way. We have been doing individual cases and we will be doing individual cases only without any growth. 4. We should set up an office, employ a PR and an accountant. Do one fund raising campaign every year and with that interest spend money for this administration (employing people, paying rent for office). If anyone has any objections, we have our points. We are not using the actual contribution for administration. Actual contribution is for the cause only as we vouch for, only interest would be used for this purpose. Also we provide employment to two people. 5. We definitely need a team who are determined to make things work. Each member dedicated for a task (like we decided earlier. we planned, but didn't implement in the true sense of it). Until and unless this crucial set of people work together, it is not easy to forge ahead. 6. No need to delete members from the mailing list (he quoted our earlier discussion) but we can ask them to say whether they are available or not and set up a practise to complete the task that one takes up. Also encourage members to be confident on choosing the task (instead of taking a back step for the fear of not completing it). 7. We should train our members to be resource persons. Say for example, RTI. Why we have to bother Rakesh everytime we want to conduct a session? Why can't we get trained and create awareness? Despite organizing so many sessions why didn't/couldn't we train our members? 8. We need to set goal for ourselves and chase/reach it with passion. Otherwise we will be the same. 9. We need to have all types of people in our group (of different ages, experienced in different spheres, employed in govt., private sector etc.,) Only then we can possibly handle things more easily. I haven't slept much yesterday night. I was thinking and thinking and thinking. I will share my views/responses to what Anil and our other members opined. Meanwhile all of you come up with your views on each of these points and anything else too. We have to be serious now on how we are going to take the Group forward. Thank you. with regards, Prasanthi.
