If you have a LDAP realm that works - then we should at least check it in,
there is no rule that "there is a single way to do something". If someone
wants to port the relm from 4.0 - great too.

What about checking it into proposals/modules ? It should also be possible
to do a little trick to have it work with both 3.2.1 and 3.3.

My only concern is about "featurism" in 3.3 - as long as something is not
required for a (functional) servlet container I would be more happy to see
it going to proposals/, and be treated as an add-on module.

I would move even the JDBCRealm and few other modules - but since they
are part of 3.2 it would mean to (re)move features. That wouldn't be bad
for tomcat, but probably it's not a good idea.

( Apache has 3-4 database auth modules, I suspect few for LDAP - choice is
good )
