Hi, - apt-get: the apt-get packages are maintained by the jpackage project, so the apache project is not responsible for the way they work. Because SUN has a non-free license (AFAIK), it is not possible to distribute any rpm package. So you have lookup all packages, that belong to the non-free section and compile them yourself (with the howto at jpackage it is quite easy). - Debian: Being a debian newbie, it was quite hard to - find a package containing a j2sdk - install more than one java sdk - find single (up2date) packages for all the extensions (ant, junit, bfs...)
As far as I have seen, the jpackage rpm's (including their system scripts, file distribution,...) seems to me far mature than other rpm's, that I have seen (port to debian would be nice)...
