As for naming, you could name that jar file "dirty_laundry.jar" and it wouldn't matter. It's the classes that are found inside of it that matter. the -1.1 is merely a help for you to know what version of commons-dbcp you are using, which is, I understand, a matter of some religious debate around here. ;)
