Tomcat process memory growth

Hi
    I am using Tomcat 4.1.29 and JDK 1.4.2_04 in my application.  The total memory of 
the process ( VM + Real Memory)
    keeps on increasing.  The heap size of VM is not increasing ( verified by printing 
the free memory) , but the total memory 
    used by the process increasing.
    
    Any ideas on how to fix it ?
