Are you sure? This doesn't happen to me.
And as tomcat usually doesn't care about wether the request is local or not,
this seems odd.
Check for proxy configuration of your local browser...

Agreed this is odd behavior. However, I'm sure this is happening. My web
application code invoked by the Session Listener logs its activity, so I
can see it running in both the local and remote client scenarios. I'm
using the firefox browser and have no proxy definitions.
