Hi, You have to start the jsvc as root, then it changes the effective user ID to non-root.

That's exactly what I did, and according to the log (line 1, line 685), the user has been changed. Did I misunderstand something?
Of course, before that, I had tried to start that script as non-root and ran into a lot more of errors. But that's a different story.
