so i have to log in as root copy catalina content under / %home folder %
and edit that variable so wen i run startup.sh the executable find itself would it work if i
edit startup.sh and include in there the corect path to catalina and jdk ? wondering
can i do that

In Linux / bash you can set any environement variable using
export VAR_NAME="var value"
you can do that in the script itself, in the user's .bash_profile file or in the shell directly
