Problems in POST

Hi I'm very new to Tomcat and Apache...

For some reason I'm not able to use POST to
initiate servlets from a form? Any Ideas? My
servlet is in tomcat's /ROOT/webapps/classes directory.
is it possible that I've not set up the .conf files
properly? I'm able to run the servlets directly from
the URL - wich causes an exception with blank
data. But, I'm struggling to get this working ASAP.
Hence the quickie placement in the /Root diretory...
