This is exactly what I would guess, too. From Tomcat 5.0 to 5.5, the
Resource element syntax has changed. It is now like:

name="..."
auth="Container"
type="javax.sql.DataSource"
driverClassName="..."
url="jdbc:..."
username="..."
password="..."
maxActive="20"
maxIdle="10"
maxWait="-1"
removeAbandoned="true"
removeAbandonedTimeout="300"
