Not true!!! Again, RTFM... I'm a newbie, but I can read... Tomcat will serve static pages, just slower than Apache. That's one reason you integrate with Apache instead of Tomcat standalone. For more reasons, try reading the Introduction in the Tomcat-Apache HOWTO...
