FWIW, you do not have to do ANYTHING to the server.xml as distributed to be able to have apache forward *.jsp's to tomcat. All you have to do is install mod_jk in apache, edit apache's httpd.conf and write the mod_jk.conf. Of these 3, building and installing the mod_jk.so is perhaps the most time-consuming/difficult. For the last 2, copious examples now exist on the jakarta web site and elsewhere on the 'net.
