Yes it looks that way. I'm not sure if you can change the behaviour of this. I personally wouldn't like to look at one huge file.

does it mean, there's a fixed no. of log files ang previous log files will not be cleanup by Tomcat, it will just rotate?

By default logs are rotated on a daily basis.

thanks...but i noticed something with the log files.

it wasn't been deleted automatically by Tomcat...i've been using Tomcat
for 3 months already and when i look at the logs directory there are still logs files dated 3 months ago...is this normal?...when does Tomcat
remove old log files?

i didn't change any configuration with regards to logging mechanism in Tomcat...should there be any additional configuration to do?

im using jakarta-tomcat-4.0 in Solaris 8.0.

They shouldn't really be different.
Except for the exe version which lets you install tomcat as a service in NT, but that's about it.

hi list,

is it ok if i installed on a Solaris machine the ZIP
version of Jakarta-Tomcat-4.0 and not the TAR GZ file?

actually i already installed and used it...so far i haven't got any
problem. is there a difference between this releases?..is ZIP version file just for Windows OS or it can also be used on Linux and Solaris OS?

thanks.
