Thanks for the help! I went ahead and added in the catalina opts (just one more thing I didn't know about) and restarted the server. I have my SA looking into the kernel params for me. I'll let you all know if that fixes the problem. As far as the patches are concerned, I'm using the 4.1.18 binary version from the jakarta download site.
