Hi folks,
I just did the stupid thing, I toasted my 1.7.118 boot
disk and had no backup. I sucked back the Linux image,
booted using muLinux (my 'other' floppy Linux), and tried
to recreate a tomsrtbt disk. No dice, fdformat fails.
Downloaded the DOS installer for 1.7.118, extracted, and
tried to boot. Guess what, the kernel won't boot on my
machine. It used to work with 1.7.102, but of course I
trashed that copy. The error I get is:
VSF: Cannot open root device 08:01
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01
Anybody seen this before? I'm running a Pentium 233 with
80 megs of RAM and Windoze 95.
I'm stuck in a chicken and egg thing. Help me get my boot
floppy (and a backup) running again. Please copy me directly
as well as the list, because I am on the digest version and
may not see it for awhile. Thanks in advance.
