I desperately need to find a recovery procedure that will allow me to
*fully* recover from a backup server another server box we have here
(potentially one of several) that has a 5-disk hardware raid 5 array
in it,

Unfortunately, tomsrtbt doesn't cut it...

- no nfs server, which is needed for exporting filesystems to
allow the dump to occur over a network, and

- the default tomsrtbt kernel is built with:

# CONFIG_SCSI_MEGARAID is not set

so there no support for raid5, not even a module for it.

I've looked at several recovery utilities, none of them seem to be
able to do the job. I need to be able to totally recover a dead image
from a network backup.

Anybody here have any suggestions?

[Ok, I could restore the main filesystem onto some spare hard drive
space on the backup server, then tar-gzip it all into a netcat pipe,
but that's _really_ ugly. Besides, I need megaraid support for the
kernel running on the recovery end.]

Cheers
Tony
