The dump and restore utilities have recently started to be maintained
again after a long period of "neglect".
The old versions (which are still commonly used, including the
versions shipped with rh6.x) segfault when trying to backup a raid
/dev/md? filesystem.
The current release version of dump - 0.4b10 - appears to be working
for me on the boxes I have here with /dev/md? filesystems.

I haven't checked if the libc5 version of dump and restore that Tom
has available for tomsrtbt addons are current, but I would like to ask
