All right. Being the newbie that I am, I hosed my boot partition. I have
backup, on a loopfile, which itself is contained in a loopfile, on my
windows partition. Both of these loopfiles use sparse-superblocks. I can't
load any of my partitions or loopfiles in tomsrtbt, and I have the latest
version from the web page. I do have the distribution rescue disk, but that
doesn't support vfat or loopback devices. I could dd the file onto a
partition and juggle the rescue disks, but that is very complicated and easy
to screw up. Anyone want to tell me how to enable sparse-superblocks support
in toms, or help me get my /boot back?
Disk outlay:
hda1 - Win partition
hda2 - extended partition
hda3 - compaq system tools
hda5 - windows partition, contains archives and copy of win95 cd for when I
feel like shooting myself in the foot
hda6 - former /boot
hda7 - root partition
hda8 - linux swap

There is free space between hda6 and hda7. I was trying to use the
ext2resize program, but to do that, you have to resize the partition first,
and I had to move the /boot. Now that I have wasted bandwidth, and talked
way too much, anyone wanna help me?
