I am trying to boot tomsrtbt 1.7.185 on a test computer, a Compaq
Presario. It has some custom hardware on it, which may be causing the
problem I am seeing.
On my laptop, not the test system, my floppy boots just fine. However, on
the test system, it gets to the 3c59x.c message, and then dies. Rebooting
is the only cure I have found. There is no such critter in the test
machine. I conjecture that some of Compaq's custom cruft is part of the
problem.
Since I don't need the 3c59x driver, is there any way I can disable it?
Preferrably short of recompiling the kernel.
