I recall that 3COM cards select the connector automatically (that should
result in your case to the RJ-45, if that is plugged in) or according to a
preset in the EEPROM of the card. That setting can be inspected/changed
with a configuration utility on the 'EtherDisk' which comes with the card
(probably available from the 3COM website). I think you need a minimal DOS
environment to run that utility.
