If I recall correctly, there is a utility about the place called
something like 3c5x9utils that does exactly the same (if not better)
job of (re)setting and inspecting those old legacy cards on a linux
box.  It's only a small program, sources for it should be somewhere
like metalab.unc.edu and similar archive sites.
