Hello: respectful greetings at 0748 GMT on Weds 11th Nov 2000
=============================================================
Is there anybody on this list who is willing and able to give the command
sequence (surely just 6 lines or so?) that will address the following
scenario? At least two others have asked precisely this question since I
last asked it, and that was just July 2000. Unfortunately I was daft
enough to include with it two other non-toms-specific questions that I got
told off for asking (and not just by Tom) and things got rather lost; but
to be quite honest any response that goes "it's in the Archives" or "look
it up in howto" just isn't cutting it. The same goes for tantalising
half-complete tekky responses of the style "Just insmod plip and then
it's obvious ...". Sorry 'n' all that: and it's not for lack of trying,
believe me.
So here goes: (I understand objections to helping out with basic Linux
procedures/ syntax, but what could be more Toms-specific than this?)
You've got two machines on the same worksurface, both powered up, and
connected via LPT1 with the yellow LapLink cable or equivalent. They are
both booted from Tom's disk, and you've just typed the password xxxx at
each keyboard. What do you have to do to copy some files from one machine
to the other? (An illustration where files are transferred between, say,
an ext2 partition and a FAT32 partition, will be very helpful and offer
sufficient pointers for other combinations.)
Thanks in advance for any responses that are truly enabling.
