I (=newbie) could narrow the problem down to 'something' <sorry to be
that vague but I don't know better>, which may have to do with the 
kbm-ps2 (onboard) chip in a P6VAP-A+ board by AMR (introduced 6 months
ago -- most probably too new ?).

I can install etc v 1.7.205 when unplugging the ps-2 mouse but it 
doesn't work (=no print to screen after appr. 3 minutes) when both, 
ps-2 mouse and ps-2 keyboard, are plugged in. 

Additional information: no bios pwd, power management = off in the bios, 
no memory problems, observed with 2 different ps-2 keyboards and 3 
different ps-2 mouses/ mice (mice or mouses ?). SCSI (all except for 
the internal zip drive). dmesg follows at the end.

Any guidance, help, hints, pointers are welcome.
