I (=newbie) could narrow the problem down to 'something' <sorry to be that vague but I don't know better>, which may have to do with the kbm-ps2 (onboard) chip in a P6VAP-A+ board by AMR (introduced 6 months ago -- most probably too new ?). I can install etc v 1.7.205 when unplugging the ps-2 mouse but it doesn't work (=no print to screen after appr. 3 minutes) when both, ps-2 mouse and ps-2 keyboard, are plugged in. Additional information: no bios pwd, power management = off in the bios, no memory problems, observed with 2 different ps-2 keyboards and 3 different ps-2 mouses/ mice (mice or mouses ?). SCSI (all except for the internal zip drive). dmesg follows at the end. Any guidance, help, hints, pointers are welcome.
