hi there,

i'm trying desparately to get tomsrtbt to work for me, but i am having
no luch whatsoever.

the machine i want to get it going in has 2 eepro100 cards, but the
network doesn't seem to come up at all. first questions:

- is this correct? the default 1.7.259 doesn't start the network?

looking at the unpacked list, i find that the settings.s and rc.custom
do not seem to start the net by default, so i have to assume that the
default tomsrtbt.raw doesn't either.

- how do i start it once i'm in the shell

i tried doing:

pcmcia start
(got an error saying pcmcia_core already installed)
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
route add default eth0

this seemed to hang in the 'route add...' line.

which makes me think that perhaps the eepro100 module didn't load. it
seems from the docs that it is included, but i couldn't find it in the
upacked directories. anyway, so i put eepro100.o in the
2/lib/modules/misc directory ( the insmod seemed to want it there ) but
now i can't rebuild the darn disk.

first off though, in the absence of lsmod, how does one see if any
modules are loaded? and do compiled in things show up in that list?

there seemed to be no real documentation on rebuilding, but eventually i
was able to figure out that i need to be in the same directory as the 1
& 2 directories, and then issue either:
../buildit.s
or
2/usr/doc/buildit.s

however, i get a bunch of errors:

error: `=' expected;

i have tried EVERYTHING but it just looks to me like this script is
either never intended to run without these errors, or i need to be in a
different directory, or something. this is on both a redhat 6.2 and a
redhat 5.2 system, if that should make any difference ( both machines
give me exactly the same output ).

please help me. i'm desparate to get this machine going, but the
netcards don't seem to come up. i need the net, i'm 3.5K km away from
the machine, and it is _very_ painful having to assist a person over the
phone, especially as i'm trying to revive a mylex 960 card, its not very
straightforward.

is there any reason that having 2 netcards in there would screw things
up?

any help what-so-ever please.
