We use toms diskettes (1.7mb) everyday on dozens of notebooks and desktop
systems - and have been doing this for the last 2 years. It is extremely
reliable. We use them to reload our systems.

The best floppies to use are old microsoft windows installation disks and
some of the cdrom driver disks.

You have bad hardware and/or bad floppies. There is absolutely nothing
wrong with toms distribution. Get a good drive - we use teac, but the are
lots of other good ones.
