Great! That did the trick. Tomsrtbt with the 2.0.39 kernel, now boots up completely from the Teac usb floppy and runs!
Now my next task is to get Parted available via the usb floppy. I have been using this with great success for shrinking and enlarging ext2 partitions. I shrink them down to about 95% used before I image them off for archive, then enlarge them back to full size for use. Thanks very much for your help and expertise, I really appreciate it...
