I had that problem (vanilla 2.0.103 hung during boot) on my thinkpad. If it's the same problem, you
are on the right track in removing stuff. Read old postings with subjects
hang during boot on 2.0.103
no hang on 2.0.105

Subject: [tomsrtbt] request for inventory of essential files
Date: Thu, 8 Apr 2004 13:31:15 -0400

Hi Tom,

Thanks for tomsrtbt.

Quick comment, and then I will get to the request that I am actually writing
about. I have 2 computers that are more or less built from generic PC parts.
Interestingly, the newer PC will not boot tomsrtbt. I am working on cutting out
stuff so I can format at 1.44 MB and see if the problem with the newer computer
booting tomsrtbt is alleviated.

Which leads to the reason I am writing. Is there any way you might be persuaded
to compile an inventory of only those files needed to allow tomsrtbt to boot and
mount either a hard disk or a floppy drive, where utils and various other
goodies could live? My only other recourse is to reverse engineer the scripts
and subsequent trial and error to see what is actually required.

Thank you.

Bill
