FYI: "y2100 compliance", the ability to represent filesystem objects with dates <= 2100 and >= 1900 will be mandatory for government purchases after 30 December 2012 in Germany. No institution with government sponsoring will be allowed to purchase, rent or lease new software or adopt software transmission protocols which does not match the above criteria. Exceptions for legacy software is granted til 30. December 2014. The EU commission is likely going to adopt the same rules and issue a EU-wide certification for y2100 compliance.
