Well, of course.  But that's predicated on having some people who
actually work out the problems that happen over time, deliver fresh
binaries, and so on.  That's always been the hard part of any freeware
bits.  It's always a volunteer effort. :-<

Normal stability rules still apply; it's not as though engineering
itself ceases to exist.

This means that if you're able to guarantee the stability you need out
of something you're using, then you can use it.  If you can't, then
you can't, because delivering something to a customer that just falls
apart over time is an unacceptable answer.
