Well, of course. But that's predicated on having some people who actually work out the problems that happen over time, deliver fresh binaries, and so on. That's always been the hard part of any freeware bits. It's always a volunteer effort. :-< > 5. What should be the policy for using GNU commands in other > parts of Solaris? Normal stability rules still apply; it's not as though engineering itself ceases to exist. This means that if you're able to guarantee the stability you need out of something you're using, then you can use it. If you can't, then you can't, because delivering something to a customer that just falls apart over time is an unacceptable answer. -- James Carlson, KISS Network <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sun Microsystems / 1 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677 _______________________________________________ tools-discuss mailing list tools-discuss@opensolaris.org
