it could conceivably happen by accident if you were to screw up when
importing a workspace/working copy from system "X" into system "Y" -- if
you were to import an entire working copy including its metadata instead
of just the managed source files.
it would be really clever if wx nits and/or pbchk were to complain about
cases where a workspace type heuristic detects that multiple systems are
in use...
