It is with great sorrow that I report the recent passing of Greg
Chartrand, W7MY (ex-WA9EYY).
Greg and I go back more than 65 years to when we were teenagers in the
early 1960's on the south side of Chicago. We were both active together
in the Hamfesters Radio Club, the Chiburban Radio Mobileers, and of
course our infamous 160 meter fox hunts.
We were separated for years until as these things go, life brought us
both to central Washington. Although we were physically 80 miles apart
we maintained a 2m FM simplex link between us so we had daily contact
often passing real time DX info between us.
Greg was a 160 meter enthusiast from the beginning and only gave up on
the band when he could no longer physically keep the station going.
RIP my friend.....
