IIRC, I believe that Dave W5UN was the first EME QSO ever from Sable Island with my group-CY0AA Summer 1996 and we did it the hard way, not cheating with FT8. 100% CW. I think I also worked KB8RQ(sk) and maybe one other that escapes me at the moment.
I think I was running a really big SS brick (350W?) and a 17B2-2M yagi with no elevation. IC706 on 2M What a thrill ! Thanks Dave. May you RIP. I was in my parents-in-laws to be driveway one Sunday afternoon in the 1990's with a mish mash of stuff hanging off my car demonstrating EME aiming an 11el 2m FM beam up at the moon visually and we could hear Dave CQing.
