In general, learning SPIN as a rule and constraint language should be straight-forward if you have a good command over SPARQL. SPIN basically adds a very light-weight vocabulary to link SPARQL queries with class definitions. Then, the topics of user-defined functions and templates are the next steps, but contain some of the real power of SPIN.
