When you created the diagram under snapshot 1, you only created the "library"
diagram, i.e., the classifiers and their relationships.
If you double click on one of the implementations you will be asked about
creating an "instance" diagram, i.e., the blue print of the implementation.
This is the place where you have the connections. You can even have multiple
instance diagrams for the same implementation showing different graphical
views, e.g., separating the physical and logical connections in different view.

Subject: Re: [Topcased-users] [AADL] generation difficulties on Topcased 2.2.0

Thanks for the help.

I have 2 installs:

 1. Osate 1.5.5, which I just patched like Peter said. Sadly, the graphical
AADL-diagrams that are generated here are not straightforward (no
connections/hierarchy visual). shown in snapshot 1
 2. TopCased v2.2 with Adele v2.2. A good graphical editor is available here,
but generates only empty AADL-files. It has Osate 1.5.4.<http://1.5.4.> shown
in snapshot 2
I would rather use option 2 for my further work.

What versions of Topcased and OSATE are you using? There have been problems
with the original Topcased generated editor for OSATE.

We made some fixes to the graphical editor to make it more stable.

Download OSATE 1.5.5 from the www.aadl.info<http://www.aadl.info> website and
add the following patches by unzipping them into the eclipse folder of the
OSATE installation.

This patch will come out shortly as release 1.5.6.<http://1.5.6.>

Dear Jonas,

I suppose that you are using OSATE with TopCased 2.2 ?

Please check "AadlStarterKit.zip" from aadl.info<http://aadl.info> web site,

and particulary "Getting Started with AADL.Graphics.Aug2007.pdf" file.

It contains a good and simple system example with Osate.

Also, this document presents a way to get components from an aadl textual file,

and move them on a diagram (Pointers and Notes p. 69).

But if you want to try another graphical editor (maybe more simple and
reliable),

have a look to ADELE v2.2 (delivered with Topcased 2.2).

and TPC-ADELE-user_guide.pdf into document section.

I am not using Osate diagrams any more,

but I am using ADELE to generate textual aadl code, and it works well.

Best Regards,

Sebastien

Dear,

I'm a student in Computer Sciences and using Topcased 2.2.0 for my thesis.
Creating diagrams works fine, but when I try to generate the aadl-code for any
diagram, I always get an empty file and a lot of NullPointerExceptions.

Do you have an idea how to fix this issue? Should I change something in the
.aadlsettings-file?
I didn't find a way to create diagrams starting from .aadl-files, is this a
possibility?

Thanks for the help!
