Hello Bernard and other TOPCASED users! Beyond this brief roadmap, the most important thing is missing: TOPCASED is now starting to be migrated to Eclipse and PolarSys (see http://www.eclipse.org and http://polarsys.org).
The idea is to be ready to produce a new package by the end of 2013 within the Eclipse Foundation, including at least the core components of the current TOPCASED: Papyrus, some convenient small features like the references view or the project templates plug-in, OCL tools, gendoc2, the scripting engine, TOPCASED REQ and a few more. Of course, everything will remain open source and will continue to evolve: the main goal of this action is to secure the future of TOPCASED with the help of new partners and of a great open source foundation with strong process and governance. On the short/medium term, we also want to take advantage of this new situation to improve the functionalities of TOPCASED, its overall quality and maturity, and to propose a better support to the TOPCASED community (continuous integration, better committer management, etc.). Unfortunately, as migrating code is quite expensive, some components will not be transferred to Eclipse and PolarSys. They will be instead archived on a public site to be defined. Among them, there will be probably TOPCASED SAM (obsolescent), AUI (unfunded), TOPCASED UML/SysML (obsolete), ADELE (unfunded), the simulation framework (unfunded), some generators (unfunded) and R&T prototypes (obsolete). Of course, there is nothing definitive: more components may be transferred if some users think they have enough value for them to justify an investment (any volunteer? ;-). One important detail: this migration will probably include porting TOPCASED to Eclipse 4, as the Eclipse 3.x branch is now stopped. If you have questions, remarks, suggestions about the migration process, please feel free to post them to this mailing list. The TOPCASED actors and I will be pleased to bring some answers and to discuss it with you.
