So glad to see you asking this question, Mark ;-)

As mentioned by Steve, I do have a prove-of-[your-]concept prototype, which I
started working on not long after you published you proposal on the Bzr list.
Though I haven't time to work on it in the last few months. While I am more
than happy to share my work (which is in a state of mess since I have little
time to clean up), I somehow feel that it might actually be cleaner for you to
start from scratch. Given your expertise on the topic, it should be relatively
simple for you.

Back to the C++ implementation, one key focus of mine during the prototyping
work is to make it VS-independent, since I won't be able to develop for
TortoiseHg if VS is required. Currently my C++ code only required the
open-source MingW compiler. So, if you were to start working on this, my only
wish is that you can keep to this goal, since it will become difficult for me
to help develop TortoiseHg otherwise.

BTW, we might want to bring this discussion to TortoiseHg mailing list. Bug
tracker isn't quite geared for this sort of discussion, IMO.
