  I had the same problem using Debian unstable -- it went away after doing an
upgrade. These are the GTK related packages upgraded (from /var/log/aptitude):

{{{
[UPGRADE] libgtk2.0-0 2.14.7-5 -> 2.16.1-2
[UPGRADE] libgtk2.0-bin 2.14.7-5 -> 2.16.1-2
[UPGRADE] libgtk2.0-common 2.14.7-5 -> 2.16.1-2
[UPGRADE] libgtk2.0-dev 2.14.7-5 -> 2.16.1-2
[UPGRADE] libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a 1:2.14.3-2 -> 1:2.16.0-2
[UPGRADE] python-glade2 2.14.1-1 -> 2.14.1-2
[UPGRADE] python-gtk2 2.14.1-1 -> 2.14.1-2
[UPGRADE] python-gtk2-dev 2.14.1-1 -> 2.14.1-2
[UPGRADE] python-gtk2-doc 2.14.1-1 -> 2.14.1-2
}}}

So it looks like I was upgraded from GTK 2.14 to 2.16 but the Python bindings
were not upgraded as much. A bit strange, I don't know... but it works now :-)
