Yes... that does has its own problems, for sure. Also, after thinking
some more about, we can always make the GUIDs persitant again if we ever
in future should decide to upgrade differently.

Yes, for major upgrades. We agree on this.

Yes, I suppose that's what defines major upgrades vs. minor.
