The 2.16 version did not work well on Windows 7; one of the many
reasons for not downgrading.

That doesn't look too bad.  Were there some custom patches in that
repository explorer as well?

Tried it, but it didn't seem to make any rendering difference.
Perhaps there was a bug fix or two in libwinimp.dll.  On the
down-side, they've un-shipped four DLLs which required changes to the
WXS script.   I'm debating now whether to push those changes and force
everyone else to upgrade to 2.18.7.
