This is exactly the sort of funding proposal I've been looking for - it's got all the information I need: * What's being proposed and how it will benefit TOS * Things like "what I've done in the past" that make a convincing point for why the proposal will actually occur and be awesome as described, * How much each part costs and exactly where to order it * How news about this will be disseminated and followed-up on Matt, one thing I'd like to see is a sentence or two on how interested community members can engage with your students on these projects - for each of the 3 classes listed in the http://teachingopensource.org/index.php/User:Jadudm/PTV#Proposal section, what would a non-Allegheny observer (from another school and/or from a FOSS project) do to get in the loop and possibly help out? That having been said, there's enough for me to +1 this and order Matt some toys from the POSSE alumni grant budget, which is much larger ($32k). http://teachingopensource.org/index.php/Budget#POSSE_alumni_grants We're just getting these funding pools and the ability to request things from them up and running for the fall semester - please keep asking questions and putting forth proposals for things you'd like to do with your students this school year, and I'll do my best to fund them; as we go through the first few budget requests we'll eventually find a rhythm, and I'll announce this more widely on the TOS list and planet after we've gotten perhaps 2-3 proposals through and have a better idea of what's going on. Matt, you should be getting your toys soon. I'll order them right now, in fact. :) --Mel _______________________________________________ tos mailing list tos@teachingopensource.org http://teachingopensource.org/mailman/listinfo/tos
