Some info for potential longer time slots"

If you want a longer than 3 hour block of time then you normally hold a
pre-conference event on Wednesday. They can start at 9 and end by 5. The cost
is likely to be about $500 for the room including A/V and some power strips.
It does not include food. Room holds 30-50 people. You may charge via the
registration system if you want but don't have to. Final details on these fees
will not be set until the end of November. I will note that significantly
fewer people are around during Wednesday unless they are coming for an event.
I don't know if students would come due to extra costs for the hotel but local
might be different. I wanted to pass along the information I found out.

Note HFOSS has held a pre-conference meeting for the last several years. If we
want to go down this route we may want to check with them so not to conflict.

If we want a 3 hour block then it would be a workshop. I could check if we can
get the fee waived or reduced for a student oriented event. Let me know if you
want that checked out.

Thoughts on how we might like to go?

Steve
