Hallo!
Last week I finally (after a decade of waiting) I got the new Madness CD
"Wonderful". Though I have to admit that at first I haven't been very
convinced by their work, now I think that "Wonderful" is a great album,
in the tradition of Madness' maybe best work so far "Keep Moving".
But I am very dissapointed by the chart position of Wonderful and
Johnny-the-horse. I don"t think that JTH is the best song on the album,
but definetely better than all those songs in the current UK-Top Ten.
Perhaps worse is that "Wonderful" charted only at number 17. It"s a mess
seeing Simpley Red (I really hate him) and the Pet Shop Boys (their new
songs are crap!) better than Madness.
I don"t know what's wrong. Here in Germany they Maddies really don't have
the possibility to chart because, I think, almost nobody knows about their
knew album. Lovestruck was and is ignored by German Televsion, and JTH
wasn't released.
As I read in the Mailing list, even in England there is almost no
advertising. I think that is a mistake.
I think they have to advert the album by a new single coming soon.
But -let's be clear- the shouldn't release "The Communicator" as it's too
skaish to affect many people. I think the should release either "Elysium"
or "...Sunday Morning" (I think this is the most Our House-like song)
Excuse my bad English....
Bye, Lars
