Hi Fellow Maddies

I have delayed my post of my top 5 Wonderful songs until now because I have
really had trouble picking 5. As you guys do, I love the album so much,
simply Wonderful. Each song means something a little differen't to me, well
here goes -

1) No Money - I havn't seen this one in many of your Top 5's but this is my
favourite from the new Madness album at this minute. I think that musically
it shows a very mature side of song writing from the band and what about
that chorus... Something I can really relate to right now being a broke
university student. I also love the sax / guitar solo and the walking
bassline.

2) The Communicator - What can I say about this song? SIMPLY AMAZING! Gave
me a real tatse of what being a Madness fan was all about 20 years ago.
Shows that the band are not worn out and are capable of writing fast ska
tunes, you can also see what modern day ska bands have taken from Madness.
This song also contains my favourite lyric of the album "Today is a gift,
thats why we call it the present".

3) Drip Fed Fred - Amazing, true Madness spirit. Before hearing this song I
was like "Ian who?". Now I think that Ian Dury is the man :) I love the way
the whole song tells a story and the way its told is just amazing.

4) Going to the top - Being a guitarist myself I loved the guitar riff to
this song. Reminds me of some of the earlier stuff. Again a great chorus.

5) Lovestruck - I have thought that this was an amazing come back song ever
since I heard it. I still think they did the right thing releasing this song
as the first single. Really nice sing-a-long song, and again being drunk and
grabbing the first thing I see and saying I love it is something that I can
relate too *sorry to some of those girls out there* :)

Well thats my top 5 for today. It changes everyday, I really like the whole
album. I think that it complements what they have done in the past. I am
glad that they have not written a really shitty album that would have
knocked down the stuff that they have done in the past. Like others have
said this album is a progression and competes with the best of older Madness
material. I guess that their must have been a lot of creative energy
bouncing around after not playing for that amount of time and then coming
back together like one big nutty explosion. Lets hope that theres plenty
more albums to come...

Stay Nutty

Rick
