Been putting it off for a while, but I might as well...
Five is a fairly arbitrary number. I would say that my top four are
clearly ahead of the rest, but there's a lot of day-to-day shifting around
within the top four. The song in the fifth spot varies a good deal, since
it's a lot closer to numbers 6-7 than it is to #4.
1. Johnny the Horse. Incredible energy. Great song.
2. Lovestruck. The song that brought Madness back to us.
3. Drip Fed Fred. Lots of fun. I'm not a big supporter of this as a
single--I'd prefer the singles to be Madness alone without guests--but I
love the song.
4. Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. A really strong Madness tune. I have a
sense that this recording just _barely_ misses capturing the full force of
this wonderful song for reasons I can't clearly define.
5. Elysium. In some ways a defining song for this album.
(The two songs most likely to take turns with "Elysium" in the five-slot
are "Going to the Top" and "The Wizard".)
