Madness have been voted in at #45 in the Millennium Honours List organised by VH1 and Heart 106.2 FM. The following article about it is from Music 365:
THE BEATLES are the greatest artists of the Millennium according to a poll of 100,000 viewers of VH1 and listeners to London radio station Heart 106.2FM. The Fab Four beat the like of Queen, Madonna, Abba and George Michael to the top slot.
When told of the results of the poll Sir Paul McCartney said: "I'd like to thank all those lovely people who sent in all those votes for The Beatles - you're dead cool!
"The Beatles still mean a lot in terms of liberty. I meet people from Russia, from Bosnia, from all over the place who say, 'use your group man - you made us realise that we could have a life'. To be part of that - this peace movement, in which a lot of good things have happened - I'm very pleased...well chuffed".
Heart 106.2FM count down the Top 100 list two artists at a time, every hour from 6am to 6pm, from today Monday December 20 to Friday December 24. The Millennium Honours list will be aired on VH1 on New Year's Day.
